Peter Earl

Managing Director

Sloane was founded by Peter Earl who is its Managing Director. Author of Euromoney’s best-selling text book on cross border takeovers, International Mergers and Acquisitions, he began his career at Boston Consulting Group before moving to investment banking at Blyth Eastman Dillon of the United States and then Orion Bank, the leading London based international consortium bank. In 1982 he was one of the founding directors of Arab Banking Corporation’s investment bank, ABC International, acting for clients such as ADIA and Occidental Petroleum. In 1985 he set up boutique corporate finance firm IFINCORP Earl where he developed the demerger concept and launched bids for Extel Group PLC and for Storehouse PLC, the owner of Habitat, Mothercare and Bhs. He advised on buy-outs of Filofax, Valin Pollen and Wentworth Golf Course. He also led the successful buy-out of Elstree Studios which he merged with Goldcrest.

Peter was a post-graduate Kennedy Scholar at Harvard University after reading Greats at Oxford University. He is Chairman of Biwater International, Britain’s leading provider of desalination and water treatment systems, and CEO of the Independent Power Corporation PLC, the United Kingdom’s leading power developer.
